POLICE OFFICER RETURNS TO WORK WITH CBPM
A constructed operational scenario based on real-world patterns — where a serving police officer returns to duty following injury or illness, now holding a lawful prescription for cannabis-based medication.

Why This Matters
Lawfully prescribed medical cannabis is no longer an emerging issue. It is now an established part of everyday life across housing, employment, healthcare and public services.
As more people receive prescriptions, organisations are increasingly required to make decisions that many existing policies were never designed to address.
The greatest challenge is not usually the law itself. It is applying the law consistently, confidently and proportionately in real-world situations where roles, responsibilities and circumstances differ.
When organisations have access to clear information and practical guidance, uncertainty reduces, conversations become more constructive and decisions become more defensible.
Improving operational understanding benefits patients, professionals, organisations and the wider public alike.

Healing in Motion Principles
Everything we do is guided by six practical principles that encourage lawful, proportionate and human-centred decision-making.
Start with curiosity.
Avoid assumptions.
Work within your role.
Escalate uncertainty appropriately.
Respond proportionately.
Remember the human experience.
These principles are not legal advice or a decision-making framework. They reflect the values and approach that underpin Healing in Motion's educational resources, research and operational support.
Improving Operational Understanding Around Lawful Medical Cannabis
Healing in Motion is developing an anonymised operational insight initiative to better understand recurring real-world challenges involving lawfully prescribed medical cannabis across housing, employment, healthcare, policing and other frontline environments.
Many people navigating these situations describe feeling uncertain, unheard, or left trying to explain lawful medical treatment within systems that are still adapting in practice.
By recording anonymised lived experiences, recurring operational patterns can be identified to inform future research, guidance, education, training and proportionate operational decision-making.
